PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

The Hydropower Station Gantry Crane is a specialized heavy‑lifting system designed for the unique requirements of hydroelectric power generation facilities. These cranes play a critical role in the construction, operation, and maintenance of hydropower stations by handling massive components such as intake gates, turbine runners, generator stators, penstock sections, and spillway gates. Installed on the dam crest, powerhouse roof, or intake structure, these cranes operate in outdoor environments exposed to wind, rain, snow, and extreme temperature variations, demanding exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and reliability.

APPLICATION

1. Intake Gate Handling Gate Storage & Retrieval: Lifting and storing intake gates in designated gate slots or storage bays when not in use, protecting them from debris and corrosion. Emergency Closure: Deploying emergency intake gates rapidly during turbine shutdowns, penstock breaches, or other emergency conditions to isolate water flow. Precision Seating: Lowering gates with precise alignment to ensure proper sealing against intake structures, preventing water leakage and maintaining head pressure.

2. Spillway Gate Operations Flood Control Deployment: Lifting and positioning spillway gates (tainter gates, radial gates, vertical lift gates) during flood events to regulate reservoir levels and prevent overtopping. Gate Maintenance: Removing spillway gates for inspection, seal replacement, hinge repair, and structural maintenance during low‑flow periods. Multi‑Gate Coordination: Synchronizing operations across multiple spillway bays for controlled flood discharge and downstream flow management.

3. Turbine & Generator Maintenance Turbine Runner Replacement: Lifting and removing large turbine runners (Francis, Kaplan, Pelton) from turbine pits for inspection, repair, or replacement during major overhauls. Generator Rotor Lifting: Handling heavy generator rotors (often weighing 100–400+ tons) for removal from stator assemblies during maintenance or rewinding operations. Stator & Winding Access: Lifting generator stators or stator sections to access windings, cores, and cooling systems for inspection and repair.

4. Penstock & Valve Operations Butterfly Valve Handling: Lifting and positioning large butterfly valves, spherical valves, or gate valves for installation, removal, and maintenance. Penstock Section Handling: Lifting and positioning penstock sections during initial construction, repair, or replacement operations. Bulkhead Gate Deployment: Installing bulkhead gates to isolate penstock sections for maintenance, allowing safe access to downstream components.

5. Trash Rack Cleaning & Maintenance Trash Rack Removal: Lifting and removing trash racks from intake channels for cleaning, inspection, and repair. Debris Clearance: Using the crane to lift and remove large debris (logs, ice, sediment) trapped on trash racks that cannot be cleared by mechanical rakes. Rack Section Replacement: Handling individual trash rack sections for replacement or reinforcement during maintenance campaigns.

6. Powerhouse Assembly & Heavy Equipment Installation Transformer Handling: Lifting and positioning large power transformers (100–300+ tons) for installation, maintenance, or replacement in the powerhouse or outdoor substation. Switchgear & Bus Duct Installation: Lifting and positioning heavy switchgear assemblies, bus ducts, and electrical control panels. Hoist & Crane Installation: Using the gantry crane to install or maintain smaller overhead cranes, monorails, and hoists within the powerhouse.

FEATURES

1

High Lifting Capacity: Typically ranges from 50 tons to 500+ tons, with custom configurations for ultra‑heavy components like generator rotors and turbine runners.

2

Double Girder Construction: Robust dual box girder design provides exceptional structural rigidity for precise load positioning across wide spans.

3

Rail‑Mounted Travel: Operates on dedicated rails along the dam crest, intake structure, or powerhouse roof, with heavy‑duty wheels and drive systems.

4

Multiple Hoists: Main hoist for heavy lifts and auxiliary hoist for lighter maintenance tasks, increasing operational flexibility.

5

Specialized Lifting Attachments: Removable spreader beams, gate lifting beams, and custom hooks designed for specific gates, valves, and equipment.

6

Weather‑Resistant Design: Corrosion‑resistant coatings, stainless steel components, sealed electrical enclosures, and wind‑resistant features for outdoor operation.
